Last Tuesday night, in Savannah Georgia, two year old Kiaja Smalls was killed during a senseless shooting, a five year old was shot in the midst of a domestic violence dispute, and a video of a babysitter abusing another two year old has gone viral. In addition, 34,585 children have been killed in Georgia since 2011.
These children were not killed due to gun shots or domestic violence issues, but they were killed through legal means. The innocent lives that are taken in such large numbers have been killed by abortion.
Before you stop reading because you think it’s another post about how abortion is bad and should be illegal, the truth is, children have become an inconsequential part of our lives and there is no way we can resolve this problem if we allow the legal killing of children to continue.
Kiaja Smalls was an innocent life who had no care in the world; she had her whole life ahead of her. According to her family and friends, she was a happy little girl who always smiled. So why would anyone want to kill her?
The same question could be asked in a similar case. Science says that during a period of ovulation the sperm meets the egg and a new life begins to form. In the early stages of life creation, this future child goes through the process of having the very basic features that make us all biological creatures. So why would anyone want to kill this child?
For some people this may have no relation, but no matter how you spin it or how “politically correct” one tries to explain why one life is valued over the other, in both cases these precious beings are children.
It is highly disappointing that children are being killed. From the beginning days of a sperm meeting an egg, to the two-year-old Kaija, when a child is killed there is no remorse for the loss of a life. A child is the most innocent thing on this earth. They breathe without understanding, laugh without knowing why, and forgive as if nothing ever happened; however, lately, children have become valueless and that is disgusting.
Kiaja was a blessing brought into this world and taken out too early. Now she is with the other children who have been taken away from an evil world. However, this gives us a chance to ask ourselves when will we stand up for all children regardless of what their stage in life?
So for all my Facebook friends and Twitter followers, when you post the phrase Every Child Counts #imagine do you really mean it? Do all children matter whether they are inside or outside of the womb? Or is that phrase only applicable to those who have been born? When do the stipulations start and stop because children are at stake and they don’t need people who will only defend them when they have taken their first breath. There are 34,585 other children who were killed before they received that opportunity. We can pave the grounds and shout for living children, but nothing will change until the same is done for the unborn. We can be activists and speak for those who once could speak for themselves, but we won’t be courageous until we speak for all children who have been silenced before their time. Every Child Truly Counts #imagine
