On Super Bowl Sunday, Beyoncé took the stage and graced the world with her talent.
She gave off the fierce Queen B performance that all fans of the Beyhive can genuinely appreciate.
However, in typical Beyoncé fashion, she did it with a twist, or should I say with real meaning.
Her message, whether good or bad, has people still talking today.
Beyoncé performed a song that addressed the unfortunate truth of a race in America. She wore an outfit that is associated with an organization that challenges a dark part of America's history still present in some circles and has championed behind Black issues for years.
And while all these things are important to take in consideration, I would have to say that people are mad for all the wrong reasons.
From the time she stepped on the field until this morning, Facebook, twitter, and blog sites have gone crazy over Beyoncé’s new hit Formation and the outfit she chose to wear on the 50th Anniversary of the Black Panther Movement.
However, while everyone is so upset about the song and the wardrobe, they’ve failed to realize that maybe there is a point to all of what she sings about and that maybe the fist that she puts up in the air to conclude her performance is justified.
Today, according to the Sentencing Project. Org, we currently have 2.2 million people incarcerated in America. According to the New York Times, 1.5 million of those incarnated are black men. Doesn’t that anger you?
Doesn’t it anger you that America locks up so many of its people? Or that over half of a group of people are in a prison cell?
While I don’t agree with Beyoncé’s politics and I am not the first to champion behind the Black Panther Movement by any means, there is reason for the hysteria.
Black America is facing a challenge that reflects the darker side of American history depicted all too well. Black mothers are burying their children on a daily basis whether it be to police brutality or neighborhood crime.
For many, the Eric Gardner and Tamir Rice cases may be distant memories, but for Black America they are harsh realities that show us not much has changed in our great America.
So to my fellow conservatives and those who want to make a big deal about an outfit, I challenge you to think differently about the way you perceived Beyoncé’s message.
Her message was not subtle and nor was it something you would want to hear while drinking your morning coffee, but it was the truth.
It was the truth for those who know what it is like to see more than half of their race behind bars or killed.
The time has come for conservatives to stop turning a blind eye to things that matter to the American people.
We are the movement that is pro-life, pro-liberty, and pro-limited government and there is no way that a half time show should overshadow the reality that Black America has not been supported by mainstream conservatives.
If we don’t wake up and realize that maybe there is a point to the riots and the outcries, then we will get what we deserve when there is either a socialist or blatant liar in the white house.
Let’s be the people we advocate others to be and champion behind the issues no matter who brings them to light because America needs you and if I should say so myself, Black America desperately needs your principles to survive.
Signing off until next time. Stay classy, stay informed, stay pearl like.
